006. be you blithe and bonny.

i am seriously aching all over.

we had PE today, for an hour. our module’s floorball, which is quite fun, except i tend to get quite violent with the stick. anyway, played the midfield (midcourt..?) role, so i had to run around a lot of the time, with my back bent. y’know, lower center of gravity, more stable, more control, the likes. point’s that my back aches now.

NAPFA’s coming too, and getting on my nerves. i absolutely suck at running, and i am the most un-fit person you have ever met in your entire life. really. so, i decided to skip tonight, because skipping is like running, except on the spot. my legs ache now. hurrah. i am going to die for NAPFA. i’ll fail everything.

anyway.

we’re on a Shakespeare kick now, which is wonderful. for Lang Arts class yesterday, and today, we watched 10 Things I Hate About You, which is the relatively modern adaptation of The Taming Of The Shrew. it’s a fluffy and totally brainless adaptation, i must say. i love it. i’ve watched it again and again.

after school we also watched Much Ado About Nothing – the 1993 version with Kate Beckinsale, Keanu Reeves, Emma Thompson and Denzel Washington. Robert Sean Leonard, who acted as Claudio, was ADORABLE. (was being the operative word here, because it was, after all, 14 years ago. wow.) but still ! (:

oh, i’m in the middle of re-reading A Midsummer Night’s Dream. we’re watching the Singapore Repertory Theatre perform it at Fort Canning on the 11th May – under the stars on a picnic mat, no less – so i want to finish it before that.

- Len.

tis the end of the world – slau is starting to save!

yes, it is true. i’m actually trying to cut down on the random stuff i purchase while i’m out before throwing them away.

so why is this happening to the same guy that sold his 360 at a meagre 50$ profit? and after that bought an advance sp so that he could play pokemon emerald for some 60+ hours before dumping it in his locker to be forgotten forever? well the answer is plainly, and painfully, simple. movies.

yes, if you haven’t already realised i DO go to the movies, even though i could just wait for the dvd to be released buy them and invite everyone over for a movie marathon on my 42-inch. however i have realised in my recent visits (including the midnight movie) that the cinema does provide something extra…like viagra does for sex. so i shall be trying to make a point to hit the cinemas for the movies i actually want to watch, though i still will be buying the dvds, just playing the role of the uber spoiler like the uber morlock in the time machine, spoiling everyone surprises by screaming seconds before theyre supposed to scream, and laughing before theyre supposed to laugh. mwahaha.

well there’s bridge to terabithia coming out on the 10th of may. that looks all narnia-ish and really quite cute and charming so yes i have a penchant for charming but maybe less for cute so i decided oui im going to see that.

then theres spiderman on the first of may. no need to explanation i assume.

and although the gv website never mentioned when the simpsons, pirates and oceans 13 are coming out, i do assume they will all be in may, which is not very far away if you realise. so…start saving, for the love of all that is good and pure! START SAVING!

005. like you always do.

That Thing You Do is the most classic song ever. everybody knows it. it’s so.. slink slam jam catchy. i love it much.

the bass guitar part is gorgeous, and it’s all i’ve been playing on the guitar for the past half an hour. the drumming is sweet, as well. i can handle that too, which is wonderful. can’t do the lead guitar part, though because i can’t switch between barre chords fast enough D: still. playing the guitar makes me happy.

here: (and i know for a fact you don’t have it)
The Wonders – That Thing You Do

my days pass so fast and so.. uneventfully. i would tell you what happened today, except i don’t really remember, myself. and it’s probably not worth mentioning. seriously.

i think i have two tests next week. i’m not even sure.

anyway, i’m going off to watch The Importance Of Being Earnest and Gossip. Oscar Wilde is not all that bad, if you like that kind of thing. and the literature student part of me definitely does. i hear Prison Break ending downstairs so i’m off soon.

tomorrow is Good Friday, (and i’m happy it’s a holiday.) i’ll probably be at Shao’s house with Claire, Melly, Yue Chin, Sufen and Charissa having a mini movie marathon of sorts. fun. Shao says “no porn!” but i bet she secretly wants to watch some (:

yeah.

004. eternity and other things.

Samuel Lau.. (what? Chuan Xian?), if you keep calling me Ling, i swear the name SAMUELINA will haunt you for your entire life.

your grandchildren will grow up asking why on earth grandpa has a strange and androgynous sounding girls’ name.

- Len. (HAH!)

say what?!

i would like to point out as well, that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the name ling! and why wouldn’t you want to be called ling?

ling sounds so much more…ALIVE and SPRINGY compared to len, which reminds me of a poor attempt at answering a question concerning the singular form of lens. ling, on the other hand, brings a breath of fresh air, something with a very welcome ring to it.

and ling definitely does not equal ding dong PLS the D already makes it a boy’s name. so yes, unless you tell me you’ve got a mr happy, ding doesn’t apply to you case madmoiselle. anyway calling yourself ding dong would be the worst insult possible to me because frankly, i wouldn’t want a co-blogger called ding-dong anytime in my life thank you very much.

so ling is GOOD! call yourself ling today!

posting when you’re eyelids are half shut is sooo not a good idea T_T

003. that which we call a rose.

i would like to point out,

that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the name Len. it sounds perfectly normal! Ling, on the other hand, is a totally different matter. why on earth would i want to be called Ling?

Ling, if you must know, happens to remind me of a bell. a bell ! that’s as bad as calling me Ding Dong. and no, i’m pretty sure i don’t want to be called Ding Dong, even if it ensures that everyone will be able to pronounce my name and that no one will be able to forget me for centuries to come, thanks.

so, Len is fine. Len is short. and sweet. and easy to say. hi, Len. bye, Len. nice to meet you, Len. lovely.

alright, if you want some background. my name is Louise E. Ng. (no, slau, it isn’t Eleanor. stop guessing.) my middle name is my secret indulgence because, really, it isn’t very like me at all. it’s my grandmother’s name, actually, and at one point of time i thought the whole idea of being named after your grandmother was really quaint. so, shhh, there’s a secret for you.

and see, it spells three very simple letters. L, E, N. Len. Ta-da. Absolute Incredible Genius.

- Len.

002. finger twist & split.

we celebrated Li Ann’s 16th birthday in advance, yesterday, because her birthday is really on tuesday. 16 sounds really old, don’t you think? even though it isn’t really very significant, apart from the fact that we’re legal for sex, because i’ve already watched NC16 movies in the cinema.

so, we were supposed to meet at Clark Quay MRT at 1830h but of course, i am the Queen Of Lateness. i had a valid excuse this time, though. our original present for her wasn’t ready so we panicked. i decided to meet Melly at HMV so we could pick up something for her first, and give her the real present on tuesday itself.

HMV is the most gorgeous place to be. i always want to buy the whole shop down, i swear. and i absolutely cannot leave the place without buying anything. the urge, it’s overwhelming.

so, i got Cute Is What We Aim For’s album, The Same Old Blood Rush With A New Touch. slau, since i am your co-blogger, it’s completely my responsibility to educate you with GOOD MUSIC.

here’s two, first:
Cute Is What We Aim For – The Curse Of Curves
Cute Is What We Aim For – Risque
listen to them, okay. they’re pretty good stuff. tell me if you like it.

anyway, yeah, dinner. our original booking was mixed up so we managed to get another place, some Thai restaurant, which i forgot the name of already. the food wasn’t that bad, except that i wasn’t really all that hungry. we had cake too, after that, thanks to the brillance of Charissa, and the nice restaurant people.

then we hung around the singapore river, near the bridge between the Fullerton Hotel and the VCH area, until about 2300h. everytime we go to that area we always end up at that spot on the bridge, somehow. the place is really nice at night, with all the orange lights. there were a lot of couples around, and it amused us to watch them suck face.

AND THUS, that is why i didn’t come online last night. it was quite late when i got home. je suis très désolé!

lastly. Liverpool – Arsenal was a big disappointment. (so i guess you don’t want to hear more about that) but Man Utd – Blackburn made me happy. i wore my Man Utd cap out. :D

- Len.

so here i am, waiting for a certain belle to come online. oh the agony, it burns, it burns!

especially while i’m trying to learn about the finer aspects of trigonometrical identities at the same time.

well, wasn’t the midnight movie yesterday a treat, i almost fell asleep halfway. yes, while watching mr bean. what i can i say, i was just too tired!

i was just surfing around on the cable channels (yes, even the few i subscribe to allows for some surfing at some point in time) and saw a few brief moments of treasure planet. yes, a possibly shallow, cheap remake of an otherwise fine literary piece. however, it did start me thinking about a few things:

 1) why do people actually write about such things? about people going on fantastical adventures, risking their lives, indulging in seemingly impossible romances and relationships, partaking in rituals and festivities even while their lives hang in the balance, all in the name of adventure? could it possibly be because we would never be able to do it ourselves? it is quite valid, don’t you think? find me one person in the previous or next 100 years who could actually trigger a planet to self destruct. or create ships that could ride on the waves created by a black hole, if they do create any at all. i’m not sure. i’m not one who adores the sciences.

2) i dunno what’s up with me. it’s like i actually felt something pulling at my heart strings when silver bade goodbye to jim. wake up slau!

3) actually that was most of what i thought about. and math calls! damn triangles!

and if you’re freaked out by whatever you’re reading now, be it my choice of words or the topic at hand, i’m not that kind of person. seriously. i hate people who talk like that!
